Job Description:

Job/ Position Summary

Responsible to manage activities and provide technical solutions/expertise for Database and Application, ensuring highly available & optimized database. Supervising & training subordinates.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS (Specific Accountabilities)

1. Plan, design & administer Oracle databases, mainly ExaData and RAC technologies.

2. Plan, design and administer Oracle Enterprise applications like P6, EBS, CostOS, ECM, PCM, Oracle BI, etc

3. Plan, design and administer enterprise integration of diverse applications with Oracle platform.

4. Plan, design & administer the Oracle platform based on Servers (Linux OS/Windows) & Virtualization (Oracle VM).

5. Coordinate apply Oracle database patching strategy which includes critical patch updates and patch set updates.

6. Pro-active Monitoring of databases including ExadDta and RAC technologies

7. Implement & monitor strategies agreed by higher management in regards with disaster recovery, security & high availability.

8. Perform, monitor & assist in cloning activities.

9. Implement, configure & test database/OS/Storage environment & issues, create Oracle service requests and resolve issues.

10. Understand, analyze and apply the required changes in application in close coordination with Oracle Functional team.

11. Evaluate and suggest technologies which would enhance the DB, server, application & security capabilities while meeting business requirement. Must submit solution design, scope & business impact for proposals and after project approval should prepare implementation, resource & procurement plan.

12. Database environments and maintain historical performance and capacity data

13. Supervise the application scalability testing

14. Supervise with other teams when required if projects require cross platform/technical resources

15. Coordinate & assist the relevant project team/external consultants during deployment of new oracle requirement, new project sites & other IT project.

16. Mainly work in the areas of Configuration, Change, and Problem, Availability, Capacity, Project, Service Level, Information Security, Asset, Operations, Release and Deployment management of the ITIL framework.

General Responsibilities

1 Follow and ensure compliance to approved policies, procedures, SLAs & OLAs

2 Coordinate and assist in annual IT auditing activities.

3 Log all incidents on the help desk systems along with resolution. Ensure all tickets are closed meeting SLAs.

4 Coordinate & assist the relevant project managers during deployment of new services, new project sites & other IT projects

5 Prepare weekly, monthly & annual reports for critical events & project status as instructed by the section head

6 Conduct routine day-day operational activities as per the functional checklist.

7 Record and manage various reports, documents, etc through the utilization of enterprise document management system (like Oracle ECM, MS Project, MS Sharepoint portals)

Provide supervision/guidance to subordinates

COMMUNICATION REQUIRED

Communicate with Functional Team Lead/ Oracle Corp and intra-departmental personnel to exchange information, coordinate work, answer questions and respond to complaints regarding Performance or their SRs complaints. Communicate/Coordinate with suppliers & consultants in order to get relevant information.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Service Availability: Total DB , Apps uptime vs downtime (planned & unplanned)

Time: Measure the average time taken by the DBA team to resolve any incident or problem

Achievement of Targets: Projects delivered & usefulness to the IT infrastructure/business

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.

May be required to work nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Compulsory Four year degree from a recognized university in computer science

Related Experience:

Total 8 years’ exp. with at least 3 years as Oracle Apps DBA in an Enterprise environment.

Essential hands-on skills – Oracle Apps EBS R12, Oracle BI Apps, Oracle 11g, Oracle ExaData, Oracle ECM.

Fluency in English and/or Arabic language.

Required Skills:

Strong knowledge of Oracle ASM and RAC
RMAN and Streams experience.

Oracle Business Intelligence Apps
Symantec Net backup experience will be a plus.
Expertise on (Oracle) Performance Tuning
previous experience upgrading/patching Oracle 10g/11g Databases and or OS
A clear understanding of Virtualization (Oracle VM) strategies and how Oracle is deployed in these environments.
Proven experience with System Level Performance and Tuning in a database and OS environment
Strong understanding of Oracle utilities (OEM, AWR/ADDM/ADPATCH/ADADMIN reports, Diagnostic and Tuning packs) and any other Third-party database toolsets (Database and/or OS)
Sound knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios
Ability to perform both Database and OS level monitoring.
Ability to resolve Very Large Database (VLDB) issues
Knowledge of Oracle Linux OS, shell scripting
Experience with Oracle Fusion middleware, WebLogic and ECM
Administrate Storage (Portioning and Filesystem).
Review Oracle Application architecture and infrastructure to ensure scalability and stability.
