We are looking for a hands-on Application Development Team Lead, leading a team of highly skilled developers and delivering complex development projects in the travel and tourism industry.

As an experienced Development Team Lead, whilst being highly technical and hands-on capable, you will lead development projects across predominantly on PHP/MySQL/NginX and Amazon EC2 based technologies. Managing the successful delivery of projects will require you to plan, coordinate, lead and deliver activities across the full delivery lifecycle. This will include working closely with the coordinating business analysts, architects and developers, as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required.

Responsibilities:

• Define, estimate, design, code, and test applications consistent with Software Department's development processes and procedures.
• Create database application design specifications and document coding efforts.
• Identify, define and implement the strategies and technical architecture to produce high-quality applications within budget and schedule.
• Maintain an extensive understanding of existing and emerging technologies. Identify, promote and implement those technologies that will benefit and profit the company.
• Create and maintain a strategic application technology plan.
• Responsible for the analysis, definition, design, construction, testing, deployment, modification, and maintenance of properly engineered application platforms
• Creates and executes unit testing, vulnerability testing, integration testing, load testing and performance testing while ensuring application meets requirements.
• Provides technical support to operations or other development teams.
• Creates, reviews, and maintains all required technical documentation / manuals related to assigned application to ensure supportability and reuse.
• Reviews work of peers and more junior developers.
• Assists in identification and implementation of short-term and long-term solution options, including risk assessments.
• Assists with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow.
• Provide work breakdown and estimates of work.

Essential Skills:

• Hands-on experience on configuring and managing production environments on Amazon EC2 (Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, Fail-over, Monitoring & more)
• 3+ years of experience leading and managing web development teams
• Experience in architecting and designing complex and scalable web applications
• 5+ years of development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in developing web applications using PHP platforms (Yii framework preferably) and utilizing MySQL, Apache / NGinX.
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Extensive hands-on experience in MVC Frameworks
• Experience with AJAX, HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript along with frameworks such as JQuery and/or AngularJS
• Experience in architecting high performance large web applications
• Strong knowledge of integration technologies/concepts such as SOAP, REST, WSDL, XML, JSON
• Proficiency in UNIX shell scripting
• Experience with testing frameworks and Test-Driven Development
• Knowledge of responsive front-end frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap
• Experience using various development tools such as Eclipse and CVS/ Subversion/Git
• Be autonomous and think creatively
• Knowledge of iOS and Android development is a plus
• Knowledge of Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry is a plus
